Generation What? is a European transmedia campaign which consists in an online survey aimed at young adults of several countries and a television documentary series about their generation. Starting in April 2016, European broadcasters appealed to the young adults of their respective countries, through a bi-media campaign spread out over 6 months called Generation What?

This campaign, adapted from a format broadcast in Fall 2013 on France 2 (Génération Quoi ?), met with resounding success.This is the most highly educated generation that Europe has ever known. This is the generation that is currently attempting to build a new model for society, yet it’s the most marginalized and impoverished generation since the end of WWII. This generation is finally going to be taken seriously.

  • Julie Schroell is a filmmaker and artist from Luxembourg. During her studies in contemporary history and film in Brussels/Belgium, she directed her first feature documentary E stoarkt Steck Minett – 100 JoërJeunesse Esch about the 100 years of Jeunesse Esch Football Club. The film was awarded the Prize for Best Photography at Mémorimages Filmfestival Reus/Spain in 2008. After that, she followed the fascinating yet undocumented world of Luxembourgish agriculture, which culminated in the documentary De Bauerbleues (The Farmer’s Blues). The film was selected at several international festivals and was awarded the winner Prize at the Future Film Festival in Hungary, 2013. In 2014, she directed her first fiction short movie, Mister Rocket (and his magnetic friends). Julie has also been commissioned to direct Public Information films, music videos audiovisual installations for theaters and exhibitions
