_Synopsis

2046. SOMA is an activist against the dominant system. It is also the code name for the spirit liberation program she and her team have been running for several months. A program that seeks to stem the privatization of our minds by multinationals and consumerist ideology. SOMA kidnaps you and encourages you to free yourself from this conditioning. With your permission, she infiltrates your brain. You then begin a psychedelic journey into the depths of your imagination. With the help of SOMA, you will have to progress in the knowledge of this alienation and try to reconquer one by one the infected territories of your brain. Your objective? Take back your free will and your critical spirit. A luminous, poetic, militant and psychoanalytical journey, in 3D and live sequences, to regain your creativity and critical thinking skills.

BLIES Brothers

Film directors

  • Stéphane Hueber-Blies and Nicolas Blies are two brothers who write and direct their films together.

They start their writing careers with the transmedia documentary SOUNDHUNTERS on the new languages created by migratory flows in co-production with the Franco-German TV channel ARTE in 2015. The project is selected for the Prix Europa in Berlin, at SXSW and the New York Film Festival in 2016. They will also win the FIPA d’Or 2015 (Sm@rtFIPA category), the Prix du Courrier International in 2016 and the Audience and Best Innovation Project Awards at the Sechuan Festival in China.

They then seek to develop their filmography around a committed cinema with a social impact. Each of their films is thus accompanied by concrete actions aimed at impacting the theme addressed. Their first social impact film is ZERO IMPUNITY in 2019, and deals with sexual violence in wartime. A feature-length film mixing animation and real image, it is currently enjoying great success in festivals, with premieres at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival (Contrechamp category), the Moscow International Film Festival, the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and the FIFDH at Geneva. The digital and social impact part of the project won the FIPA d’Or 2017 (Sm@rtFIPA category) and was selected for the Visa d’Or de l’information France TV.

Stéphane and Nicolas are currently working on their second feature film, GHOSTDANCE, co-written with Canadian-born Abenaki filmmaker Kim O’Bomsawin. The film project dealing with the issue of gender equality and feminicide was noticed from the very beginning by the international animation film industry when it was selected for the Cartoon Movie in Bordeaux in 2019 and the Eurimages Pitch session.

In parallel, they are working on the development of their first real-time animation film in virtual reality, SHOCK THE MONKEY, on the theme of the privatization of our imagination by the capitalist system.
